After several months seeing of a growing problem with gas theft cases in Mason City, police caught one alleged siphoner early Tuesday morning.
Shortly before 1 a.m. police spotted what they thought was a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the NAPA store on 4th Street Southwest.
Officers saw someone in the process of siphoing gas from one of the NAPA fleet vehicles parked overnight by the store.
Arrested and charged with 5th degree theft was 30-year old Clinton Joseph Janssen of Rockwell.
Janssen was also charged with tampering with a motor vehicle.
Police say in recent months they have seen numerous incidents of gas theft from fleet vehicles of businesses on the west side of Mason City.
