A project to remove carp and restore water quality to Clear Lake is now complete.
The $5 million Ventura Marsh and Ecosystem Restoration Project includes a new pump station and dredging flow channel to allow the marsh water to be drained and carp to be removed.
The marsh draw down will also allow vegetation to regrow and in the process act as a filter system for water that flows into Clear Lake.
The marsh imporvements are some of the final stages of the Clear Lake restoration effort of the CLEAR Project which started 10 years ago.
Input and financial support for the marsh project came from the Iowa State DNR, the Army Corp of Engineers, the Cities of Clear Lake and Ventura along with private donations form The Association for the Preservation of Clear Lake.
