New Gas Tax Proposed in Iowa

Gas prices are expected to be on the rise this summer.  At the same time, Iowa may be paying more in a gas tax too
Gas prices right now are the highest they've ever been at this time of year, averaging $3.54 a gallon nationwide.
Officials predict prices could hit $4.25 a gallon by late April and close to $5.00 by Memorial Day.
Making the pain at the pump worse, an Iowa Senate Panel has approved a 10 cent per gallon increase.  The House Panel agrees with the hike but only at an 8 cent increase.
The group "Iowans for Tax Relief" says republicans should oppose any election-year tax increases.
But the Iowa Farm Bureau supports the measure... saying roads have deteriorated and hurt farmers who rely on them to transport their crops.
The tax hasn't been raised in Iowa since 1989.
